Most recently, the Australian Government funded Illawarra Small Business Assistance service was delivered by RDA Illawarra across the local government areas of Kiama, Shellharbour and Wollongong until the program's closure at the end of June 2008.
Building on the success of the RDA Illawarra's close involvement with small business a new advisory and support service was introduced to follow on from the Small Business Field Officer program from 1 July 2008.
In today’s fast paced business world many small business proprietors find it difficult to know where and how to access information, resources and support.
The Illawarra Small Business Assistance service solves this problem by providing a one stop advisory and support service for existing as well as new business ventures. The service is particularly related to micro and home based businesses.
The FREE, friendly and confidential service can help link small business proprietors to a broad range of government, industry, internet and self help resources and support.
The service also helps facilitate the development of business networks and to keep proprietors up-to-date on issues affecting small business.
Workshops that focus on issues and needs identified by proprietors are conducted in local areas in conjunction and collaboration with other relevant service providers.
